REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) is a comprehensive regulatory framework adopted by the European Union to manage and control the use of chemical substances. It requires that chemical companies gather comprehensive data on the substances they produce or import and to assess the potential hazards and risks.
While REACH itself directly governs the EU and EEA member states, its impact extends globally. Non-EU/EEA manufacturers and exporters must comply with REACH regulations if they want to market their products within these regions. This often means that non-EU/EEA companies need to register their chemicals, or work with EU-based representatives, to ensure their products meet REACH requirements.
An "Only Representative" (OR) plays a crucial role in helping non-European Union companies comply with REACH. Non-EU manufacturers can appoint an OR to fulfill their REACH obligations. This service ensures that the manufacturer’s products can be legally marketed in the EU.
